Marin Villages helps older adults be active, connected, and independent in the place they call home.
We have created vibrant local communities of members and volunteers that enrich each other’s lives, help build new connections, and make everyday life easier as we age.
Marin Villages offers a variety of programs tailored to members' interests. These range from coffees and happy hours to educational talks, cultural outings, hiking, and games. During COVID, villages are primarily offering events on Zoom, although some socially-distanced walks are allowing members to enjoy our beautiful climate and surroundings.
These activities offer the opportunity to meet new friends, build community, and help prevent the isolation which often accompanies aging. We hear from our members that they value this sense of community and friendship as much, if not more than, any other aspect of their membership in Marin Villages.
Our volunteers also assist members with what we call direct services, including errands, transportation, handyman services, tech support, pet care, companionship calls, and other services that help with members’ daily needs.
Providing this help creates a sense of connection between volunteers and members that can often be missing in older adults’ daily lives.
We also help members who may need to find other services or assistance to help meet changing needs.
